The Hawks have agreed to investigate charges laid against President Jacob Zuma by the Democratic Alliance (DA).
DA leader Mmusi Maimane said the specialised policing unit contacted him at the weekend and confirmed that the criminal charges will be investigated.
Maimane was speaking to the media after a rousing "Back to the People" rally in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday.
He's traversing the country visiting Metros and Councils where the DA formed governments after the recent municipal elections.
Maimane said the Hawks had called a meeting with him to discuss the charges.
Maimane laid charges of corruption against Zuma for his role in the allegations revealed in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report.
The president also has a pending matter before the Supreme Court of Appeal in relation to 783 corruption charges against him.
Maimane said he would seek clarity regarding the corruption charges, along with those he laid against Zuma in 2014 in relation to his private residence in Nkandla.
