The SABC 8, who were fired and then rehired after speaking out against the broadcaster's policy to not show footage of violent protests, have again been receiving threats. The eight journalists were rehired in September following a lengthy Labour Court battle. The Parliamentary inquiry probing the SABC heard today that more threats were sent to the journalists. Committee Chair Vincent Smith called on authorities to do all they can to protect witnesses. Startling revelations have been made at inquiry thus far. Over the last few days the committee has heard from former executives and board members about how Hlaudi Motsoeneng ruled the SABC with an iron fist and flagrantly flouted proper procedure. The current board consists only of its chairperson, Mbulaheni Maghuve after the remaining members resigned. Yesterday, Maghuve was asked by the committee about allegations of corruption.
