Matric pass rate: Three FS districts in top 5

Three districts in central South Africa are among the country's top five performers which attained a high matric pass rate. The Xhariep District in the Free State had a pass rate of 92%, second to the Overberg District in the Western Cape which had the highest pass rate of 92.7%. The Fezile Dabi District in the Free State was third with 91.8%, followed by Gauteng West with 91.2%. The Namaqua District in the Northern Cape was fifth with a 91% pass rate. Jaco Deacon from the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools, says it is fantastic to have three districts in central South Africa among the top performers. He says it shows that quality education is provided in rural areas.
