South Africa woke up this morning to the sad news of struggle stalwart, Ahmed Kathrada’s passing after a short period of illness. The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation announced that the 87-year-old ANC veteran – affectionately known as Uncle Kathy, died this morning at about 03:45 in the Donald Gordon Hospital in Johannesburg, following surgery to the brain.
