South Africa’s Kevin Anderson has jumped 17 places in the latest ATP rankings after playing in his first Grand Slam final.
On Sudnay evening Anderson became the first South African in 33 years to play in a Grand Slam final, by facing Rafael Nadal in the US Open final at Flushing meadows.
While Anderson lost in straight sets to Nadal, it was enough for the tall South African to jump to 15th in the latest rankings.
Anderson said he is proud with the leap he has made in the rankings.
Nadal who won his 16 Grand Slam title strengthens his grip on the number one spot, while Roger Federer moves up to 2nd and Andy Murray slips to third.
