The South African men’s and women’s hockey teams have arrived back from Egypt after completing the FIH African Continental Champions double over the weekend.

The woman’s side won the tournament for a seventh consecutive time, and in the process didn’t concede a single goal, but scored 28.

The men in their turn qualified for the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup in India by beating Egypt in the final

South Africa missed out on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the national goalkeeper, Rassie Pieterse, told OFM Sport that it is a huge deal to qualify for the World Cup.

South Africa’s next stop in international hockey is next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.
