The Business Hour chats to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority, Kenny Dichabe, about what the province has to offer in terms of so-called "Staycations" or “Holistays".

Dichabe says the tourism sector was one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing many small businesses to close their doors. The authority now wants to urge locals to travel and explore the hidden parts of the Free State and in doing so help keep businesses operating. He says this will help drive the local economy and generate employment where possible. Dichabe says by sharing your experiences on social media, you help get the word out about some of these hidden gems not just to Free Staters but to individuals outside of the province as well.

Follow @discoverfreestate on Facebook and Instagram and share your Free State experiences with #discoverfreestate that fellow travellers may also discover this wonderful province’s hidden gems.
