Fraudsters shift their attention to online gambling

Fraudsters have shifted their attention away from the financial services to online gambling and travel. The head of emerging solutions at TransUnion, Davina Myburgh, says their quarter 2 research reveals there has been a whopping 922,7% rise in fraud related to online gambling activity. She stresses fraudsters are merely targeting industries they believe have the most activity and will as a result provide the most reward. Transunion’s quarter 1 research previously revealed that fraud attempts in the financial services increased by 187,34%. She says businesses are forced to strike a delicate a balance between protecting online customers and making online shopping a hassle free pleasant experience.
