Craft beer makers shift their focus to charity work

The Covid-19 pandemic has left alcohol producers on the brink, but many are choosing to focus their attention on charity work during this tough time. Michelle Erasmus, Board Member of the Craft Brewing Association of South Africa and owner of Pause Brewing tells the OFM Business Hour that some brewers have opened up food kitchens to assist community members who are in a far worse situation than they are. The association itself has received donations, with which they have purchased food stamps for some of their struggling members. Erasmus says even though things are tough she urges alcohol traders to refrain from illegal trading and operate within the time frames outlined in the restrictions as this is the only bargaining chip that the industry will have moving forward.
