Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, xenophobia was a challenge in our society, be it politicians making xenophobic statements during their election campaigns or some citizens expressing frustrations about their economic exclusion in relation to the perceived economic success of non-South Africans. How has the corona virus crisis brought xenophobia to the fore as citizen struggle for access to food and healthcare?
