South Africa is one of the most unequal societies in the world and COVID-19 seems to bring out the best and worst in societies. More affluent neighbourhoods partnered with poor communities in order to support them and provide them with food and clothes. On the other hand, as resources get more scarce, social tension rises. Has the pandemic weakened our social network because of lockdown and social distancing OR has it brought communities closer together?
